What happens when I turn up?

We start formally at 10am with everyone bowing in, but the dojo is open and available for individual advice, warmup and practice from around 9:30.

Members are encouraged to be ready to train at 9:45 if at all possible.

For your first session just turn up and ask for Mark or Paul. We will then take you aside and give you a run-through of how the class is formatted and what you will be doing in your first class.

If you want to turn up and just watch, that's fine. There is no obligation to participate. If you want to try a class, then you will be joining in with everyone else.

  • You will bow in with us (don't worry you will be shown how) and then take part in the warm-up.
  • Once everyone is warmed up the beginners are taken to one end of the dojo whilst the rest of the class continues in their normal class.
  • You will then be told the etiquette and safety protocol.
  • We will then run through footwork, and basic cutting.
