Alex Berry  - Fighting Spirit - KitaNishi Taikai

Award presented for fighting spirit in Taikai held after annual in house grading. Well done Alex.

"After the intense grading we were all ready to move into the hall and begin the shiai (competition). It was alot of fun and i felt it was good for my kendo experience, a big thanks to the people who arranged it.

Once the competition had finished, we all lined up facing sensei ready for them to announce our grades. I was so nervous at the time it was unbeleiveable.

It was then that i was awarded with the fightining spirit. I didn't know what to feel at that moment, i was just so surprised :). It truely is a good sense of achievement and i was very happy at the end of that day.

 My sensei says that the fighting spirit is more than winning the competition itself, i find that very insightful, because the spirit is a crucial factor in all kendo. Many thanks to my sensei ans sempai and everyone who has helped and supported me through my first few steps into kendo."
